this past week i have been working as a receptionist. i sat in an office very close to Auckland Airport and almost every time i looked out the window i saw an aeroplane taking off or landing.

wow!
they fly!

every time i watch now i half expect them to fall out of the sky. i can't believe they're up there!

now i am smitten by flying things and the idea of flying. how can big things fly so far and so high? how many planes don't make it to the ground in one piece? i look at birds and i wonder: how many times does a the average bird flap its wings in one minute of flying? how often does wing failure occur?
and what happens when a large bird meets a small plane?

hoorah hoorah! i'm doing physio: contrast baths: i put my hand in hot then cold water 6 times every two hours. gets the nerves and joint back in action.
i have no immediate plans to return to or strar ya just yet.

yesterday
i picked sizable pieces of dead yellow skin out from under my plaster
i studied, all the while wishing and hoping and dreaming that my plaster would disappear and i would be free again
i felt glum even tho i have the most blessed life
i was paralysed in self-pity and lack of motivation
i just felt like eating chocolate and laying in bed
even worse: i had no chocolate
and then
a phone call
from a good friend far away. and it made a world of difference. i forgot about myself. we laughed and shared. and my heart sang praises for friends who call to say hi.

most plants do better in plastic pots or glazed terracotta pots. terracotta=likes to draw out water=not plant friendly. in fact anna b and i have both had aloes that did very pooly in terracotta as compared to glazed or plastic pots.
