... it rained!!! I smelt the rainclouds and looked out the window and lo and behold some very occassional, very big fat raindrops were falling from the skies above. And when they landed on the lawn -with literally no grass- little poofs of dirt smoke would go up a few inches into the air. Within a couple of hours the gutters were flooded aazzz and there was thunder and lightening and more rain. The first rain since I've been here.
And today: back to sucky 20 dC, and cloud.

... I went into town to see Sarah's friend's band play. Punk rock - I think!! Kind of KORN ish. Nice geetar and rhythm but I don't like the screamage.

... I went to the gym for the second time in a row. For the second time ever! My aunty has a membership and knows everyone there cos she's a gym junkie and a triathlete. So she gets me in. Saaaaweeeeeeet! I hate going, I hate the concentrated exercise BUT I feel so good when I come back I might just have to keep going.

Does anyone know what Bex named her baby?

Lately things are pretty good. To cut a long story short, I"m living with my family here now. If you want my address say so.

I"ve been pretty busy doing assignments, trying to choose courses, visiting a school, police check just incase I"ve got a criminal record, organising resume, and going out and doing fun stuff. Australia day was a big event. A good time for me to wish everyone a happy Auckland anniversary weekend!

I wish they had a parachute fest here. Its about time I heard some loud live good sounding music.

wot up everyone

I just got back from Canberra last night with Andrea and Graham. Nice as weather up there not like stinking Melbourne! Oh, I spoke too soon, the sun just came out. Not very warm tho.

BREAKING NEWS::: This morning I was doing my hair in the bathroom and a large black cockroach flew in the window. I absconded very speedily and I'm not going in there ever again until someone can garantee me its not there!!! ew!!! Everything seems to come in super large sizes around here. In Canberra I saw these big red ants about two cm long and up there I also saw a dead-in-a-ditch kangaroo (the first kangaroo to ever be seen by me) and they're (apparently, ie this is true unless someone is trying to trick me) 6 foot tall when they're sitting down!

Canberra was nice. It's been described as being 'the city with no soul' and at first I could see why. Its a fairly new city so everything is new. Everything is in good condition and in perfect place. But nothing is really beautiful.

However, yesterday Graham and I went for a 2 hour bike ride around a big lake next to parliament house which gave us the opportunity to see more of the city. It was nicer than I'd originally thought. At the end of the day a kind teacher from the conference I went to took us up a hill before going to the airport. Great view of everything.
We decided to go to the lookout at the very top and were surprised to find masses of ladybirds (big ones ofcourse) EVERYWHERE! Soon we were covered in ladybirds too which isn't a nice feeling but seeing as they're not cockroaches I could cope! Funny thing: One pooed on Andrea!!! ha haha hahahahahahhahahah ahahhah hahah! (I find this very funny).

Enough for now
I"m off to find a bank and a job and some stationary for Mattie

kia ora koto tamariki!!!

I am here in Melbourne finally! After getting off the plane (and possibly getting on TV), I failed to recognize my cousins at the airport! Doh!
I am staying in a town called Melton, just 45 mins drive from central city. All the dirt is red and all the grass is dead - apart from one small patch on our front lawn which my cousin Matt (8) keeps an eye on. Water restrictions are enforced.

Last night I went for a bike ride with Auntie Marg, Jordan (12) and Matt around Melton. Lots of interesting looking parrots and the biggest bird poop I've ever seen!

I feel VERY conscious of my accent so I've shut up a whole lot! And I don't always understand when ppl are joking and when they're not and whether or not they are joking, so a lot of conversations have gone completely over my head and I feel very lost. Oh, and I was listening to the radio this morning - when people in NZ mock & exaggerate Ozzie accents, they're not exaggerating! They get all winey at the end of EVERY sentence. BUT everyone I've met so far is lovely.

Going out tonight with Sarah (cousin - 22?) and her boyf and his cousins from Malta and will hopefully meet up with Graham and Andrea too. On Sunday I'm flying up to Canberra for a Christian Education conference called 'Transforming Education'.

Thanks to ya'll who spoiled me rotten! Before I left I was blessed with a late night delievery of Ginger Beer (Dan), The September Sessions CD (Carl), a mini slumber party & very little sleep (thanks Tan, Wic, Sarah Panapoo & Chickie) AND lots of people who came to the airport despite the fact that I had to Board at 5am! YOU ALL ROCK.

Time to go now
I love all of you
But I don't miss you yet

i am going to miss my things
and family and friends (in that order)

i would love to write more but i can't
i'm far too busy for that sort of nonsense

heres a new metaphor for inner beauty
It's not the hair on your head that matters. It's the kind of hair you have inside.

i'll see you when i get there!

When I wake in the morning,
I want to blow into pieces.
I want more than just ok, more than just ok.
When I'm up with the sunrise
I want more than just blue skies.
I want more than just ok, more than just ok.

I'm not giving up, giving up, not giving up now.
I'm not giving up, giving up, not backing down.

More than fine, more than bent on getting by.
More than fine, more than just ok.

When I'm wet with the sunshine.
I want more than just a good time.
I want more than just ok, more than just ok.

I'm not giving up, giving up, not giving up now.
I'm not giving up, giving up, not selling out.

More than fine, more than bent on getting by.
More than fine, more than just ok.

wot up ya'll

I have just come back from Gisborne where I used to live, where the sun actually shines all day, where the weather forecast for rain is never accurate, where every beach is a surf beach, and, where all beaches are five minutues drive from where ever you are. I rike it there a rot. Two especially surprising cool things happened while I was there - I met up with my best friend from primary school, KELLY . So I went to play at her flat and had some fun for the old skool. Shes a bit strange tho... likes to talk to dogs...?!?! Other thing: Kelly gave super nice 21st present.

Its my last Sunday in NZ for a while this Sunday so bring some te no pai te kai and your togs and a towel and come on over baby!

Ugh! I can't imagine I'll be seeing many of you at the airport!

QF 34 departs at 6 am Jan 15

I'll be there from 4 am I spose. Gah! Yuck!

Hi everyone! And welcome to my letter to YOU! Isn't it pretty? Dan the man designed it jus for me. So now you get to know wot da haps where ever I am on the only island that is a continent and the only continent that is a country (big ups to me man Bill Bryson).

I leave Auckland on the 15th of Jan 'earli in the mornin' and arrive in Melbourne. I'll be staying with my Aunty Margaret until I find a flat or board. And I'll find a full time job too. In March I'll be coming back to Auckland for my graduation ceremony - you are all invited: March 27, Carleton @ Airport, time TBA possibly 2ish. When I go back I'll continue to work and in July study aswell. Its not at all necessary that I take this course in Oz (as opp to NZ), I'm going for fun. AND I CAN'T WAIT.

The best thing about moving is that for the first time in 3 years I've got nothing really to think about and plan beyond the next 2 weeks because I can't do much about anything until I get there!

Over & Out.
